PS Selection Project

In this project we learned how to layer images and how to use many of the different selection tools. The magic wand tool is one of the most important tools used. Its purpose is to select an area all with the same color. The best example is the whale. The whale is made of about four or five different shades of blue, so I was able to select each shade and the entire whale was selected. For other images like the bobcat and the sign the quick select tool was used. By highlighting the entire image, I was able to copy and paste into the new project. For the moon and the clock the elliptical marquee tool was used in order to get a circular selection around the shapes. Just like the other images once the image was highlighted all that was needed was a copy and paste. For the book cover the rectangular marquee tool was used. Similar to the elliptical marquee tool the rectangular tool does the same exact thing except with a rectangle rather than a circle. Finally for the arrow I used the polygonal lasso tool. This tool is used to highlight the edges of straight lined images like the arrow. After the border of the arrow was highlighted I was able to copy and paste into the new project and it was complete.

PS Painting Project

In this project we were able to choose any image that we like. I choose an image of a hand holding a tree with a sky and clouds in the background. In this project I learned how to use the brush and eraser tool in order to get the image to be what I liked. Along with the brush and eraser I learned how to use the eyedropper tool which helped me choose the color I wanted from another image. When needing to fill in large areas the paint bucket tool worked great to get the job done.

PS Altering Self

In this project we were able to play around and edit three picture of ourselves. In the first image I placed a filter where I put an outer glow, which proceeded to created the background and most color to black. The outline of myself and the logos on my shirt and hat became either white or a rainbow of colors. Along with the outer glow affect I placed a shadow in the top left and bottom right corners in order to focus on the center of the image. In the second image I put a stain-glass filter on it which made it appear to be very pixelated. Although the image is not in fact pixelated the image itself is not clear. After the stain-glass affect, I added a bit of shadow around the edge of the image to make the center pop out. In the third image I placed a filter that replicated an oil painting. I then was able to go in depth and make the ‘strokes’ of the brush more precise to show not a lot but enough of the filter.

PS Cropping and Resizing

In this project we learned how to crop, move, and center different pictures. We were able to use a JPEG (The Dog and the Sticks), a PSD (The Hello and Palm Trees), and an AI (Batman). We learned that each of these pictures has to be treated differently. The Two JPEG images could not be zoomed in more than they were intended since they had a fixed amount of pixels. The PSD image had to be copied using copy merge because the image was created with many different images to create one whole image. The AI image could be zoomed in as much as it wanted to because it was not composed of pixels. The image would never become blurry no matter how many times you zoomed in.
